What? Where am I?

This blog format is evidence of days past. I put all this together back when I was "Building my empire". (lol. I know.) I do however, have some interest in running a personal blog again. With that in mind, that's what this place will become. 

As of now, I'm still listed as a member of 'Emerald Rangers'. So any polished writing will end up there. I'm also still a part of The Next Round, so if they ever decide to have a revival, I'll produce for them as well.

A lot has changed since I used to run this site regularly. Namely, the domain name TigerClawTV.com is up for sale. Also, I now run a record label called 'Community Modular & Electronic'. I use the term 'record label' loosely since its essentially just a bunch of demos and mix tapes from synth enthusiasts.

So in short, I hope to whip this place into shape again in a much less 'try hard' style. Thanks for visiting!

Update on TCR

This past weekend I was away with my son at a summer camp for Cub Scouts which made it impossible to finish TCR when I normally do. I'll be sitting down tonight to get it all squared away for release tomorrow.

I was able to get up super early and get the first half of the show done. It already runs an hour at this point. All that is left for me to do is record the failbag and we should be all set for a long show.

Something is Wrong With TCR Archive

Since the TCR reboot, I have been dumping every episode into the archive.org listing for the show. This listing has every surviving episode of TCR, but this past couple weeks uploads have been failing and finally I can't seem to make it work.

All old episodes still survive, but it's not accepting new ones. I'm working to resolve this. I'll make a post about it as soon as it's working. In the mean time, Podomatic is still in business. MP3s can be downloaded from the Podomatic page, and there is now a TCR playlist in YouTube.

Podomatic Wont Let Me Publish TCR #233

Podomatic is still not allowing me to publish Tiger Claw Radio from this past Monday. I suppose it's to be expected that since I have added a streaming ap to the website there would be some kind of issue.

I'm still working with it. I have been with Podomatic a long time. I'm confident it can be figured out. In the mean time, that episode of TCR is still available on YouTube and can be seen here.

EDIT: #233 is now available like normal. Podomatic had some sort of internal software update and I couldn't get my episode uploaded until it was complete. It seems to work okay now.

A Little Source Port Goes a Long Way

I spent the last couple mornings before work playing Wolfenstein 3d. Not the new modern games, but the old DOS game that predates DOOM. One of the interesting things about Wolfenstien is that it's just as much a game about navigating confusing maze levels as it is actually shooting things.

I came across a source port called ECWolf that I was able to install into my Steam directory and rename the executable file thus tricking Steam into running it instead of the old fashioned version. This allows me to enjoy the source port experience while still having Steam count my hours.

So what does the source port provide? WASD controls for one thing. I know that prior to Quake and Unreal, mouse and keyboard were not the prevalent choice for FPS controls, but now I find it impossible to go back to how it was before that.

TCR Still alive on Podomatic

Just a quick message to those of you who listen to Tiger Claw Radio by Podomatic, or by the iTunes account that Podomatic sends out. To make up for TCR not coming out there over the last month, the four missing episodes are going up on Podomatic today, and it will henceforth be regularly updated.

NES Classic Discontinued

By now I'm sure you have heard that Nintendo has pulled the plug on the NES Classic. Nintendo has now lived up to their long standing reputation of not producing enough hardware to go around and not fulfilling the market desire to have inexpensive versions of the games we grew up on.

I thought this thing was silly when it came out. The whole idea seemed to be founded on pretending the Raspberry Pi didn't exist. Now we say goodbye to the best console Nintendo has put out since the Wii.

Lol. GG Nintendo.

Toying with YouTube Audio Only Embeds

I'm toying with the ID of embedding podcasts that are uploaded direct to YouTube in such a way that only the audio plays, and the YouTube video gets credit for the play. The instructions to do this can be found here.

Here is the latest episode of TCR, audio only, streaming directly from YouTube. Let's hope it works.

Edit: I have rolled this out with TCR 180, but I think the whole thing had limited success. It seems like some ad-blockers are blocking it. Oh well. At least the YouTube embed, although bulky in a webpage layout, still seems to work.

TCR Is Now Weekly

I just want to make sure this announcement was put out there, I have reached my funding goal thanks to my dear friends and wonderful people who are interested in TCR. Effective immediately TCR returns to weekly service.

I may play with the release date in the future, but for now we are going to stick with the Monday morning release I used to use. That means the next episode will be up in a few days. Thanks so much everyone. I'll see you on Monday!

TCR#175 goes up Tomorrow

I still have to rescue my main assets from my old computer, but this episode felt like a return to form. Also thanks to everyone who made the last episode, along with the best of TCR, a couple of my most viewed (minute for minute) YouTube videos of the last couple weeks.

Forums Deleted After Nearly 10 Years of Service

TigerClawTV.com forums had been idle for quite some time now, but this was the place where I met several of TCR's long time friends for the first time. Darabka first reached out there, I first got to know Kaiser there (under the name Retroman), Doom night was organized there, Gooch and the Dooshebag had posts there, and so many more memories.

Because of inactivity, the forum was deleted without an email or warning. Again the service was not being utilized, but it really hurts to see all those old posts go. As of yet there are no plans for a replacement service, but I would like to see some sort of gathering tool appear on The Next Round, like a small forum or a chat box.

Thanks to everyone who was a part of my forum. Today is the end of an era.

TCR is now on Patreon

I avoided this for a long time, but Patreon is offering me the best solution to making time for TCR in an increasingly busy professional life. If I can take 20 bucks a month and return that to my family, I can produce 45 - 60 minutes every week. I am really excited about the new life this is going to breath into TCR. Thanks!

TigerClawTV Status and the Return of Tiger Claw Radio

The Future of Tiger Claw Radio

I have spent the last couple of months working to revitalize my YouTube channel Tiger Claw TV. Most of the tools we had for networking back in 2008 have been crippled like video responses, clickable favorites in other peoples channels, working subscriptions, and things like that. Despite this, YouTube was where this all started for me, so there is where my effort lies.

However, I have also been working towards a consolidation of my efforts around a single space. I have recently dumped my three chiptune albums into video format to be added to my channel, and yes, there is TCR.

Doing a weekly podcast is entirely too draining and pursuing weekly shows would kill TCTV, however I am working towards bringing back TCR as a monthly program with a slightly different distribution method. YouTubenz. When I started TCR, it was much weirder to have a podcast directly on YouTube. But now, it seems much more feasible to maintain a TCR video series and have podomatic as an after thought for those who wish to grab the mp3 and here it in their car.

This is all still in progress, but I wanted to let my pals know that TCR is not dead. It will return.

Auto Play Whoopsie Daisy

So Podomatic changed their embedded streaming app to autoplay.  This changed caused several episodes of TCR to all play at once when you would load this page. In order to stop the audio-chaos, I have changed these several posts to have the streaming app after the "read more" button.

Just to be clear, I have always preferred to have a one click stream option right on the page and I intend to figure out how to move back to this, but this temporary solution helps keep the lights on while I figure this out.

GOG Connect Joins GOG and Steam Accounts

So GOG.com has just rolled out it's GOG Connect program in which you can permanently join your Steam and GOG accounts. The idea being that certain participating games will then show on both accounts. The list of participating games is fairly small but we are promised it will get bigger as time goes on.

Also I want to point out that this joining of accounts is permanent and irreversible so don't try and link your GOG account with a secondary Steam account thinking you can sever the link later.

This should be a nice way to take advantage of GOG's DRM free setup files and extras for games you may already have on Steam. For me, I'm particularly happy about Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament participating.

James Rowlf Explains Ghostbusters 3.

It's been a while since I enjoyed James Rowlf's work as much as this one. He is so goofy in the AVGN character, it's easy to forget how cool it is to hear him talk as himself about movies.

James has also been taking some high profile flack for rejecting the Ghostbusters reboot, despite widespread discontent over the trailer. That said, I thought it would be nice to show some support by posting his video here. Not that a titan like Rowlf needs any mention from me, here he is in the best Cinnamassacre video I have seen in a very very long time... Explaining Ghostbusters 3.

Decent LP of Shadow Warrior Map 1 on Hard

I'm not familiar with this let's player, but he does a pretty decent cut of the first map from the original Shadow Warrior on hard mode. That map, if you're not familiar with it, was huge. Enjoy!
