I'm with you on ignoring a partially built pc. I've recently assembled my first pc, but I'm using a hard drive that I borrowed from another device and am using processor integrated video.
If you do decide to get one of those $20 thrift store towers, puppy linux will run on anything. I have it running on a 1999 laptop. Remember mouse trails on old laptop screens?
NES Metal Gear ended up so different from the original because Konami kept development teams completely separate between the consoles in the 80s and 90s. It's also why every Konami game on the SNES and Genesis have the same name but are radically different.
I've never played Snake's Revenge nor have I ever listened to the soundtrack. That song was great. Konami had such jazzy rhythms and cool sampled drum beats. Nobody else could compete with them back then.
I'm also down with more linux discussion as I am making the switch currently.
Linux Mint does have an XFCE version.
Canonicle has completely lost my trust after the spyware/selling user info to amazon.
Great show as always. I look forward to next week's episode.
I hope I'm not too late! Been quite the busy bumble bee as of late, so yeah. Anywho, comments:
- Thrift store shopping/shopping of any kind is really not my thing. I hate shopping, period. Don't care if it's for food, clothes, games, brides, supreme power, whatever, not a fan of shopping:/
- Didn't know that about Konami and Ultra Games, cool to know. Was hoping for some 'Red Alert' when you started mentioning music from old Metal Gear, but your bit about leaving Megaman music alone makes it totally understandable why you may have not leaned towards using it.
- Would you say that the side scrolling bits in say Zelda II or bet yet, the top-down portions of Blaster Master serve the same sort of freshness as in Snake's Revenge's side scrolling bits?
- Never played RC Pro Am:(
- Life is not fair, CF. You should have crushed your child's spirits :p
- Though Wily stage 1 and 2 theme is overused, it's all about the Wily themes from MM3 and Dr. Cossack Song 2 from MM4.
- Games you wanted to beat, but couldn't... that's a really good topic, but I honestly can't think of any. I went back through games while I was in college and crushed those games I couldn't beat as a kid. Yeah, still can't think of any:/
- Though I am muy estupido with regards to computer hardware, you make it tolerable to listen to, CF.
I think that's it. Thanks for another enjoyable listen:D

ReplyDeleteWhen you said you were going to call your PC the "Panzer" I immediately thought about "Panzer Dragoon".
