Darabka and I face off in CS 1.6
The only real way to enjoy Counter-Strike 1.6 anymore is to play with people you know. That seems to be the only way to avoid dealing with hackers and cheaters. This is a quick one on one game of Darabka from The Gaming Beast and I playing in the old office map. Good times.

An Eye Opening Look at Minecraft 1.0
"The Best Gamers" - who usually do satirical game reviews poking fun at reviewer nerds made this 19 minute look at the Minecraft finished product. I enjoyed Minecraft a lot, but this really nailed my frustrations with Notch and his company in a big way. It's a good watch.

Kaiser has Returned
Think back to the first time you ever heard of Kaiser. Many an afternoon has been enjoyed by a family, bonding over the discussion of Kaiser. Until recently considered taboo amongst polite society, spasmodically it returns to create a new passion amongst those who study its history. Crossing many cultural barriers it still draws remarks such as 'I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole' and 'i'd rather eat wasps' from so called 'babies', many of whom blame the influence of television. With the primary aim of demonstrating my considerable intellect I will now demonstrate the complexity of the many faceted issue that is Kaiser.
Social Factors
Society is a simple word with a very complex definition. The immortal and indispensable phrase ‘honesty is

elf dance 2. An Essay.
Man's greatest achievement? Perhaps not, but can you afford not to read on when I am about to tell you about elf dance 2? Underestimate elf dance 2 at your peril. Remarkably elf dance 2 is heralded by shopkeepers and investment bankers alike, leading many to state that spasmodically it returns to create a new passion amongst those who study its history. Since it was first compared to antidisestablishmentarianism much has been said concerning elf dance 2 by global commercial enterprises, many of whom blame the influence of television. With the primary aim of demonstrating my considerable intellect I will now demonstrate the complexity of the many faceted issue that is elf dance 2.
Social Factors
Society is our own everyday reality. Back when Vealinger reamarked ‘the power struggle will continue while the great tale of humanity remains untold’ [1] he was clearly refering to the impact

Pay What You Want - Indie Royale Bundle
A new company has decided to enter the "pay what you want" bundle market. Indie Royale has packed together four premium indie games together. (Sanctum, Gemini Rue, ARES, and Nimbus) The way they are doing it, the minimum value started at 2.00. The more people pay, the less the minimum is. The less people pay, the more the minimum is. Because of this, the price is slowly rising, so make sure you get in on it quickly.
3 of the four games are redeemable on Steam and there are rumors that the fourth will have a Steam key added later. (Though I can't confirm this.) Also, they have had some technical issues with the keys so make sure you bookmark your page once you buy it. Enjoy everyone!

Ultima, Gog, and the demise of Abandonware

Let’s take a step back here. Imagine it is 1998. Remember those days on the internet? That was back when it was still cool to have AOL, and everyone was still using dial up. At that time, what was the best way to get ahold of a copy of a game like Police Quest 1 or Wing Commander or Ultima? There was no Gog that’s for sure. At that time some of those games were still being sold as part of collections. Ultima for example came in a collection which had all the classic Ultima games for 20 bucks. The price actually hasn’t changed that much considering if you buy all the Ultima games today off of gog, you’re going to pay 17.97. But the greater reality at that time was that classic PC games as a whole were not commercially available. The only ways to get them if they weren’t lucky enough to be part of a collection was to take a risk and eBay the old diskettes.

Work Continues on Kolteka
Tonight I made the first changes to the game since the demo came out. Woo! I feel good about it. Playing the game gave me a bit of a weird feeling. I am really fond of the characters, but I really see the flaws in the design pretty clearly. I found about seven major bugs in play testing before I even made a single change. Ouch.
Anyway, tonight I made my first change to the game. It was just a simple tweek to the debug room, but it's a major step in dusting off the old project and getting it rolling. Kolteka is alive and well. I don't know how long it will be before a new version is out. Here's hoping I can drum up some interest in the game again.

Minitroid Demo (Freeware Review)
With all the business about Streets of Rage Remake, I feel like this game (Minitroid) lost some well deserved spotlight. Demo videos have been making the rounds on the indie sites for a long time and finally a playable tech-demo has been released.
No TCR this week. Enjoy a rerun
Today happens to be my wifes birthday. That means I'm forced to take the week off. Bleh. Oh well. Enjoy this rerun. Episode 30 of TCR! Woot.
This episode features a classic interview with retro kaiser. This was recorded right after Doom Night IV. Some of the stuff we talked about were: Stacking carts on Sega Genesis, Robo-Pit, the WonderSwan, the SNES Campus Challange and a few other things. Also, at that time, my Robo-Pit video had just come out. Click read more to get a blast from the past and watch it again!

VLC in need of a new roof for their childrens area which was the original church building, purchased in the 1980's. As VLC grew, additions were built and the old building was renovated to accomadate the children (now ranging between 70 and 75 children with more families joining this number will only grow). Leaks in the roof have caused ceiling damage, mildew and mold in some of the walls and is beginning to be a hazzard to small children.

SEGA has Streets of Rage Remake pulled
I hope you downloaded the freeware phenomenon "Streets of Rage Remake" when it was released last week. After nearly a decade of work, the fan game was pulled very shortly after it's release after the development team was contacted by SEGA. Despite not taking a single line of code from the source material, SEGA still owns the intellectual rights to the Streets of Rage series.
The dev team hasn't released any details on the matter, and moderators of the SORR forums have locked related topics. They have asked for copies which were previously downloaded not to be re-uploaded elsewhere.

One Second Song Chipnoise Compilation
I came across this little gem over on the 8bc.org forums. Apparently, somewhere along the line, there was a compilation which consisted of chiptune music songs of one second.
