The desert scene in Casino, as performed by Bert and Ernie.

Just something I wanted to share.

This was the most active month on this website ever.

And so August 2014 comes to a close and so closes the most active month in the history of this website. Previously the title was held by October 2011 with 20 posts. That was the month that Indie Royale first debuted its first bundle. The rest of that month consisted of a weekly indie roundup series which has since been pulled down, my stint into producing my own MS Paint comic, and also poking fun at Ozark Soundscapes "I got this" video, which is still up by the way.

Thanks so much for continuing to derp around with me despite all the nonsense that goes on here. It has been a wonderful five years.

Also TCR #126 comes out tomorrow.

Wing Commander III - Free on Origin right now.

Despite being generally not well liked by the gaming public, EA is still attempting to get people to use it's platform 'Origin'. They have been giving out games free for people to add to their origin accounts lately. So far, some past games have been Peggle, Sims 2, and Plants vs Zombies.

Now they are giving away the epic space adventure Wing Comander III. This comes complete with cut scenes of Mark Hamill talking to giant cat puppets, and some of the finest space sim combat. Even though Origin is a derp and a half, this is a good game worthy of bothering. Grab Origin and get it while you can.

Original Shogun: Total War is $1.24 on GamersGate this Weekend!

GamersGate is having a Total War weekend sale this weekend. Most of the games for sale in that series are Steam unlocks, but I noticed this little gem and I didn't want it to get swept under the rug. The original Total War is included in the sale and it's 1.24!

Note that this version is not a Steam unlock. It's downloaded and installed directly from GamersGate and it uses the SecuROM DRM. If you are still interested, here is the link. Enjoy!

TCR Short Discussion: GOG Game Removals & Changes

So GOG.com has a brand new look. They have added movies for sale, and they are removing 35 games. Here is a short discussion on the topic from TCR.

Pitching 5 Nights at Freddy's Sequels

There is a thread on the 5NaF Steam forums about sequel ideas. A great deal of them consisted of X
Nights at Y's. Where X is a number and Y is an everyday male name. My idea was drastically different gameplay. I thought I would put it here for your entertainment. This is what I posted:

"You play the same character. You are now an animatronic bear monster. Players can assume the story takes place as if the player from the first game eventually lost and was stuffed into the golden bear suit.

The goal of the game is to kill the new security guard.

Multiplayer stealth. Avoid cameras/traps. The pizza place has since expanded it's...

Asalieri Discusses Zoe Quinn & Depression Quest

Asalieri isn't affiliated with this website, however I wanted to share his thoughts on Depression Quest and the hotly discussed Zoe Quinn. Maximum lolz.

If you don't know why Zoe Quinn is being discussed so much lately, here is a video from ReviewTechUSA that explains everything minus the filter of big name websites attempting to silence recent events.

My little Ouya Gridiron Thunder Contest Entry

The Ouya forums recently posted a contest for a free copy of Gridiron Thunder, (a five dollar game.) In order to enter the contest you had to do something that showed some kind of team like spirit for the console within the thread on the forums. Most people described things they like to do with their Ouya's. I made this 23 second clip using the old Monday Night Football theme.

Here it is for your entertainment.

Castle Wolfenstein (MS-DOS)

This is Castle Wolfenstein. Originally for the Apple, this is the DOS port. Actually for an early DOS game, this is really good. Take a look.

Discussing Five Nights at Freddy's

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a new horror game from Scott Cawthon which has become very popular in a very short period of time. The player sits in a security booth at a children’s themed restaurant at night. All through the night animatronic mascots roam the hallways and at times, come to kill the player. The only controls the player has to defend himself are a couple of doors on either side, lights to light up outside the doors, and a few security cameras. Power is limited so the players different tools can only be used for a very very short period of time.

To me, the gameplay boils down to sitting in a room, waiting for death and hoping you...

Sim City 4 Review

This was my user review of Sim City 4 written for GOG.com. While I was writing it out, I started to get a little sentimental about this one so I thought I would paste it here for your viewing pleasure. (Since no one will proboboly get around to reading the reviews at the bottom of the stack on GOG.com)

In the long history of Sim City, this game hit the balance of complexity and fun better than any other version. It is complex enough that players will continue to learn about the game long after purchasing, but accessible enough that anyone can

Weekly Pandy!

If you are not familiar with Pandyland, it's a html based web app which produces a randomized webcomic by putting together three randomized panels from a database. Sometimes the results are lulzy. Since I pop into that site pretty frequently, I thought it might be fun to post some of my favorite Pandyland comics here every Saterday!

Enjoy the first Weekly Pandy!

Garfield Randomizer Page

I know I did this once before, but I was messing with the Garfield Randomizer once again which generates webcomics by selecting random frames from old Garfield strips. Here is what I came up with.

Thanks Chipsturs and Congratulations!

YouTuber Chipsturs, also known as The Easter Egg Hunter gave me a huge shutout recently in his 100,000 sub milestone video. Back when Chipsturs put up his first video, (which was about Super Mario bros on NES,) by coincidence it just so happens that I was the first one of those 100k people to subscribe to him.

That particular day I looked up NES reviews on youtube and changed the filter to see what was most recently uploaded. I also discovered Burgerrider that day along with 8bitrob.

Best of luck chipsturs and congratulations on your well deserved success!

TCR to Return Soon

Since appearing on Retro Rejects recently, I have had the urge to return to TCR again. This is something I have wanted to do for a while now, but I have found out that once you stop producing podcasts, it becomes difficult to go back to it. This is especially true since I have two childeren at home and finding time to do anything has not been easy.

The good news is, since it has been a while, I'll have a lot to talk about. The last work I did on TCR was some discussion with Alex Swingle from The Next Round about bringing him on as a cohost. I'm still looking into that. Alex is super talented and would bring a lot of great stuff to the table. Here is hoping we can make that work.

Anyways, one way or the other, TCR will be back with a new episode fairly soon. Best of luck with all your lives. Thanks for supporting the show!

Super Mega Tribute

It's been over a year since SuperMegaComics.com produced thier last strip entitled "Dave Cow". In hopes to coax the artist back into working on it, I sent him some fan art recently in the form of imitation SuperMega strips.

If you have never read SuperMegaComics.com, it's an anti-comedy webcomic with many strips which are totally devoid of a punchline. If you are familiar with the work of Tim & Eric, think of SuperMegaComics.com as the Tim & Eric's Awesome Show Great Job of Webcomics.

In a tribute to that strip, here are my fan art submissions.

Duck Hunt on MS-DOS

Time for a trip into the stranger parts of the MS-DOS library. This game is not licensed by Nintendo. It's a very early fan game which was distributed on a BSS which was common in the early days of the internet. Hurray for software preservation! Brace yourselves everyone. Here is Duck Hunt.

Critical Failure on Retro Rejects

As you may already know, I was lucky enough to be a guest on the Retro Rejects podcast along with Vintage Video Game Geek and NEScomplex. I had been after Vintage for a guest spot for quite some time now and I must say, the three of us together were able to make some top notch podcasting.

If you have never listened to the Retro Rejects, they do a really high quality monthly podcast about retro gaming memories. They are available on iTunes and a few other places.

Check out the episode I was featured on here.
